How To Pray Qiyam Al Layl?

Allah mentioned those servants in the Holy Quran: “They used to sleep a little at night.” Al-Dhariyat verse 17. So Be ONE OF THEM!

How to Pray Qiyam Al Layl?

The night is quiet and peaceful, this helps the Muslims to get close to Allah. Here is how the prophet (saw) used to pray Prophet (saw) used to pray Qiyam Al Layl:

    • The Prophet (SAW) used to pray eleven rakats in Qiyam Al Layl.

    • He used to pray to the Salah in couples, (Muthanna, Muthanna). It means you pray two rakats and then make salam and then pray another two and so on.

    • He prolonged his reaction, kneeling and prostration while praying to them.

    • He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to start his salah with two short light Rakats, then he prolonged the other Rakats.

How Many Rakats are in Qiyam Al Layl?

There is no specific number of Rakats for Qiyam Al Layl during Ramadan. Many people may ask about the number of Qiyam-Rakats, in any case, this is due to one’s ability. Although, the Prophet (saw) used to pray eleven Rakats in Qiyam Al Layl.

This is the best thing for those who want to pray qiyam al layl prayers. And if they pray three, five or more or less Rakats, there is nothing wrong. Each Muslim with their ability, it is due to what he or she can afford.

 A man said:

“O Allah’s Messenger”, (How Many Rakats of the prayer of the night?” He said, “Two rak’as followed by two rak’as and so on, and when you apprehend the approaching dawn, offer one rak`a as witr.”

Sunan Ibn Majah 3381

Aisha said, I asked Allah’s Messenger about the prayer of the night, he said, “It is seven, nine or eleven Rakats besides the two rak’as of the Fajr prayer (i.e., Sunna).”

So, there is no limited Rakats, if a worshiper prayed two Rakats and a witr or prayed four Rakats with a witr and two Taslims or six Rakats with a witr or he prayed eight Rakats with a witr and two Taslims, all that is accepted and nothing wrong about it.

The most important thing is to pray with a good recitation, have submissiveness in his or her prostration, and to read prayerfully.

Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and increased devotion to Allah. It is also a time for Muslims to come together and participate in various activities and events. The Kalimah Center has compiled a list of Ramadan activities and events that can help individuals and families connect with their community and enhance their spiritual experience during this holy month.

Dua For Qiyam al Layl

Once you finish your Nawafil prayers, and remembrance (Azkaar), repeat Qiyam Duas. Supplicate to your Lord as much as can. There is no reason to be ashamed or confused. Close your eyes and ask whatever you want to ask, He will answer you because it is during the last third of the night, the best time for accepting Dua.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to repeat this dua during Qiyam Al Layl:

    • “O My Allah the most Merciful! All the praises are for you, You are the Holder of the Earth and the heavens, and whatever is in or between them.

    • All the praises are for You; You have the possession of the Heavens and the Earth And whatever is in them.

    • All the praises are for You; You are the Light of the Heavens and the Earth And all the praises are for You; You are the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth.

    • And all the praises are for You; You are the Truth and Your Promise is the truth, and to meet You is true, Your Word is the truth And Paradise is true And Hell is true and all the Prophets (Peace be upon them) are true; And Muhammad is true, And the Day of Resurrection is true.

    • O, Allah! I surrender (my will) to You; I believe in You and depend on You. And repent to You, And with Your help, I argue (with my opponents, the non-believers) And I take You as a judge (to judge between us).

    • “O Allah, Please forgive me my previous and future sins; And whatever I concealed or revealed And You are the One who makes (some people) forward and (some) backward. There is none to be worshipped but you.”

(Hadith)
